Libraries Rock!

This summer, the theme is "Libraries Rock" and many of the programs at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library have to do with music, geology and other similar topics!

Are you interested in researching your family tree?  Join us on Saturday, July 21st for the annual Genealogy Night Lock-In from 6 p.m. until midnight!

Those who stay until the end of the event will go home with a free t-shirt!

Our guest speaker for the event will be Jennifer Simpson who is the Area 8 Adoption Supervisor for the Department of Human Services Division of Children and Family Services. The title of the presentation will be "Accessing Adoption Records Through DCFS."  She said, "Each licensed adoption agency in Arkansas is allowed by law to estavlish an adoption registry. Qualified persons may register to be identified to each other or to receive non-identifying information about the genetic, health and social history of adoptees placed by their agency. The Arkansas Mutual Consent Voluntary Adoption Registry (MCVAR) is operated by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
