Winter Genealogy Night Lock-In

Do you know much about your family history? Many of us know some, but not much past our grandparents or great-grandparents. If you are interested in digging a little deeper, the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is here to help! The library will host the Winter Genealogy Night Lock-In on Saturday, February 3rd from 5:00-10:00 p.m. At this event, you can get started in your research, continue the research, get help if you are stuck or simply work on your family genealogy with others who are doing the same. 

The library has an extensive genealogy collection located in the south end of the building.  If you are unfamiliar with the library, it is located at 315 West Oak Avenue.  Resources you can access year round inlcude the collection of books that includes marriage records, cemetery records, Jonesboro newspapers on microfilm dating back to the 1890's as well as access online here: Jonesboro Sun Deaths and Obituaries Index.  You can use the microfilm reader and printer at the library.  If you are in the libary in Jonesboro or the Poinsett County Public Library in Harrisburg, you have access to Ancestry Library - the library version of popular genealolgy website.  There are also several other genealogy websites you can access via the library website

The Winter Genealogy Event is a drop-in event - you can stop in any time during the 5:00-10:00 p.m. time period.  There will be a voluntary potluck at this event. If you would like to participate, please bring something to share.
If you are interested in helping out with the TIMELINE project, the ScanDIVA scanner will be ready to scan your historic family photos from Jonesboro and Craighead County.

We are also asking that you bring a loved family recipe for the potluck!  Along with your dish, please bring a copy of the recipe to share.
