About Children's SRC

Summer Reading Club is two months of summer fun that inspires reading and learning for your children. Kids all the way from newborns to sixth graders can participate. Teens can register here. Once you sign up on-line you can come to the Children's Library for your game sheet or print a copy at home. Every child registered is entered into our weekly drawing and every one that completes the Summer Reading Club game is entered into the grand prize drawing! Earn more tickets to our weekly drawing as your child continues to read throughout summer. Hurry though, Summer Reading Club ends July 31!

Which reading category is right for my child?

Readers are those children who are able to read independently on a chapter book level. To complete Summer Reading Club these readers must read several non-fiction books as well as various types of chapter books. Most of our Readers are in second grade and above but please choose according to the child's reading level.

Read-Together Readers are children who are not yet reading on their own or who are beginning readers. Our Read-Together Readers keep track of the time spent reading out loud together with parents and siblings as well as complete several activities. We suggest newborn through first grade for this level.

Teens are those who have finished 7th grade up to 17-years-old. Teens can register for their Summer program here.

Oops! I signed up on the wrong category.

Just stop by the Children's Library and we can help get you switched over or registered for the right program.

I signed up.  Now what?

Depending on the program; Reader or Read-Together Reader; download and print the appropriate game sheet from our Summer Reading Club website. Follow the paths on your sheet and complete the game. Children who complete the summer reading program will receive a paperback book from the Friends of the Library, a book placed in their honor in the Children’s Library, and their choice of a superhero cape or superhero tote bag. You must show the completed game to the librarians in the Children’s Library by July 31st to finish and collect your prizes.
