The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library Board is welcoming a new board member, Beth Smith. Smith is a native of Jonesboro and holds two degrees from Arkansas State University. She joined the Office of Alumni Relations at A-State in 1992 and retired from the University as the Executive Director of Alumni Relations after a 25-year career at the institution. Following her retirement, she moved to Washington, DC, in 2018 to work for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education as their Executive Director for the US/Canada. Smith retired again in September 2022. She is a past president and Life Member of the Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary and a Paul Harris fellow of the Jonesboro Rotary Club.

“It is an honor for me to be appointed to the Jonesboro/Craighead County Library board, as I have many fond memories of time spent at the library. I am an advocate for the important role that libraries can play in a community, and I appreciate the Mayor and City Council's support of my nomination to serve,” says Beth Smith.

Smith will be fulfilling Dr. Zeng’s term on the board, which will end on August 1, 2024.
